Meet The Team

We’d like to introduce you to our team.
Helping to put a face to the name of those working hard behind the scenes for you.

Management

Jon Stones

History – I joined the financial services industry in 2001, prior to that I had many jobs including supermarket shelf stacker, travel agent and call centre worker. My first job in the industry was as a financial advisor for Co-op Bank. I left there in 2003 to join a firm of independent mortgage advisers where I stayed until 2008 when I left to set up Mortgage 1st.

For the first 5 years, Mortgage 1st was just me as an adviser working from home. It wasn’t until 2013 that I employed my first member of staff and since then the company has grown year on year to where we are today.

I never set out to be the managing director of a large mortgage broker firm but I wouldn’t change a thing! I’m extremely proud of the team we have and will continue to build and the high standards we deliver to our customers.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Spending time with my wife and 2 young children and watching Sunderland (attempt) to play football!

Managing Director

Lisa Stones

History – After studying Fashion Marketing at University, I secured my first job as a Manager for Topshop Retail in 2004. Then in 2008 I left to launch my own Wedding Planning Company. During this time I also worked alongside a Boutique Hotel as one of their wedding coordinators and ran training courses specialising in business start-up and event management. I joined Mortgage 1st in 2015 to initially support my husband Jon with the day-to-day running and management of the company. My role as Director has evolved over the years and I now dedicate the majority of my time to the areas of the business I’m most passionate about which is marketing and the growth and ongoing development of our team.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Looking after our young children, shopping or pottering around at home!

I am lucky to work with such an incredible, dedicated & motivated team of people who are so invested in Mortgage1st and the services that we offer.

I am so passionate about our business and completely dedicated in doing my part in contributing to our growth and expansion. I am grateful for the way in which my role has developed in line with the changes the business has experienced over the years. Together I know we will accomplish our ultimate goals as a company but most importantly provide the best possible service and experience for our clients. I am excited to see what the future holds for us and looking forward to many more years with Mortgage 1st

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – enjoying the simple things in life, relaxing, good company, spending time with my teenage son (a rare treat) nice food and of course wine, I have a particular fondness for wine (Not my fault, it’s in the genes)  I am very interested in Spirituality, mindfulness and meditation, I enjoy reading and developing my understanding in these practices and applying them to real life as it helps to keep me centred and give me balance.

Carl Robbins

History – I have worked in financial services since 2010 initially joining Yorkshire Building Society as a cashier, whilst there I studied for my Cemap and began mortgage advising. In 2013 I left YBS to take a role as a whole of market broker because I did not want to be restricted to one lender’s criteria and by being whole of market I would be able to help more of the customers I spoke to. I loved working there and in 2018 I stepped into a role managing the team I had previously worked in. It was a great learning experience but I missed mortgage advising and the day to day contact with customers. When I saw the vacancy at Mortgage 1st I was really excited by the opportunity and felt it was the right move for me.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Either at our local park where I attend a boot camp several times a week, at home if I spot the opportunity to be lazy for a few hours or out and about with my wife and/or dog.
